CALIFORNIA, Dec. 5, 2020 — Aerovehicles Inc. is proud to announce it has joined efforts with the World Air League® and [INVNT GROUP]™ to organize the world-first around the globe airship race: the World Sky Race. The responsibilities of Aerovehicles are managing Airship operations including construction, crew training, and logistic requirements of the Skyship 600 and Skyship 500HL’s for the World Sky Race. Additionally, Aerovehicles will participate in preparing the Rules of the Race and Safety training and cultural protocol for the airship teams for the many countries they will pass through. Aerovehicles will also assist in forming a Team to represent South America. In this sense, will be recruiting experienced personnel from Latin America. Bob Fowler, CEO at Aerovehicles (and Logistics and Safety Director at the World Sky Race) mentioned: “there are a few local experienced crews such as La Serenísima’s airship old crew”.
The race will launch in September 2023 by crossing the Prime Meridian in Greenwich, London, and end in Paris on May 2024. The airships will circumnavigate the world’s northern hemisphere flying over 130+ UNESCO World Heritage Sites and cities all with their own background of history, culture, and customs.

Airships are lighter-than-air aircraft and they are the greenest and safest existing transport offering a huge opportunity for the future of leisure, business, and cargo transportation.
The Education and Environment are two of the biggest issues for this Race: classrooms all over the world will have on-line material to discuss, starting with the question: “where are the airships today?”
Scott Cullather, President & CEO at [INVNT GROUP] explains: The World Sky Race “is a completely new and unique concept, one that pushes the boundaries and compels audiences around the world, whether witnessing the race physically or virtually, to stop and watch the action as it unfolds”. It will have a similar repercussion as the Olympic Games, with 2+ billion spectators.
Every stage will finish at a host city, with a summit that will gather the race teams, celebrities and local authorities and, of course, the participation of the public.
Fowler stated: “Airships use substantially less fuel thus producing much less pollution than an airplane, but they are slower. However, this reduction in speed is offset by the extreme comfort provided by the large cabin space in new technology airships. There’s still a lot we can do to improve them including electric engines or even advance to unmanned versions. We expect this Race will put lighter-than-air aircraft in the mind of the people again and help the industry to make a more sustainable and safer world”.
The World Sky Race will be a historic event that will put all humanity behind the same goal: a better world.
